Advice from the police about Scams - at a time like this there are always unscrupulous people waiting to take advantage of the elderly and vulnerable - please go to the neighbourhood watch page for more information.
Remember your bank will never phone and ask for bank details NEVER EVER give any personal account details or other information to anyone that you don't know who contacts you by phone. Put the phone down. They may say they are trying to help you safeguard your money by transferring it to a safe account or something similar but it will be a trick. Sometimes they even say goodbye so you can phone your bank directly but they are actually still on the line and you think you are talking to someone new as they put on a different voice. Put the phone down and wait a few minutes till you have a dialling tone then phone your bank - the number will be on your bank card or bank statement - ask them if they have been in touch and tell them about the call.
